What is the Farmington Travel Soccer Program? The Program: Travel soccer is a higher level of play than recreation soccer for which there are competitive tryouts. Tryouts for the fall season are held in the previous months of May & June and will be announced on our web site under the “TRAVEL TRYOUTS” drop down menu on the home page. Players are selected on an evaluation basis and placed on teams of similar ability. When players are selected to join a travel team, they are making a commitment to participate in both the fall and spring seasons. We feel the combination of training and games provide the players with the best possible foundation of skills and knowledge of the game. The program is a great introduction to competitive soccer and Farmington has a long history of producing many talented teams and players. Commitment: Practices are generally twice per week with one or two games on Saturdays and Sundays against other travel teams in neighboring towns within the Central and Northern District areas ranging from a few minutes away to as much as 45 minute drives to get to games). Saturday matches are typically “Friendly” games set up by the coaches or managers at the beginning of the season. Sunday matches are “League” games and can be more competitive. Cost: The coat for participating on a Farmington Travel team is $125.00 for the year which includes the cost of the uniform, referees and insurance. In addition to this fee, each player is required to register with the Farmington Recreation department for the fall and spring seasons. Teams may incur additional expenses if they choose to participate in additional tournaments or if they elect to play indoor soccer during the winter seasons. These expenses are optional and kids are not required to play. Mission: Our objective is to help players develop a love of the game; teach skills that help players enjoy the game; train players to use proper technique; providing organized practices using well planned and time-tested teaching techniques. Our emphasis is on developing the complete player in all four phases of the game including: technical, tactical, physical and psychological areas. The Farmington Soccer Club provides a safe enjoyable training and learning environment for each player. The training is based around the technical fundamentals of soccer with the curriculum consisting of age related activities as recommended by US Youth Soccer Association and CJSA programs. KEY GOALS • Provide the player with a strong foundation for the longevity of their playing career. • We will introduce soccer to the young people and parents in the community by providing a safe, fun and professional training environment where players can enjoy and develop their soccer skills and techniques without fear of failure or pressure from over enthusiastic adults. • Provide an educational environment for players and parents concerning club values. Rules of play are generally FIFA standards with some modifications. Travel soccer overview and tryout FAQs: Click Here |
